Most recent update to this page: 22 March 2021
The following COVID-related restrictions and best practices will be in effect for the 2021 Mock Prison Riot event scheduled for 2-5 May at the decommissioned WV Penitentiary in Moundsville:
Unfortunately, we will be unable to welcome international participants for the 2021 Mock Prison Riot event. The 2021 event will be for domestic participants only.
In accordance with a directive from our local health officials, attendance will be limited to 500. As a result of the attendance restriction, we will prioritize Exhibitors and Participating Teams for 2021. Observers will be extremely limited for 2021.
The Skills Competition Awards Banquet scheduled for Monday evening, 3 May 2021, is cancelled. Skills Competition awards will be distributed outside and on site at the Penitentiary on Monday afternoon/evening.
The annual BBQ sponsored by AVON Protection and scheduled for Tuesday evening, 4 May 2021, has been cancelled for 2021.
There will be food for sale on site thanks to Aramark. Options will be grab and go.
Exhibitor booths in the Technology Showcase will be positioned to allow for social distancing.
Masks are required. The state of West Virginia remains under a mask mandate by order of the Governor.
There will be sanitizing products/stations throughout the compound during the event.
Check in upon arrival will be accomplished outdoors as opposed to utilizing the usual registration trailer.
Classes will be smaller in size to allow for social distancing and limited in offerings. For 2021, we will not have as many course offerings as we normally do.
We will not allow on-site registrations for 2021. Pre-registration and pre-payment are mandatory for 2021. Credit card is the preferred method of payment at the time you register online.
The Mock Prison Riot reserves the right to implement additional COVID protocols should the need arise.
We are deeply appreciative to the state of West Virginia and our local health officials for the opportunity to host the Mock Prison Riot for 2021. Compliance with these directives is mandatory and part of being responsible community members. Non-compliance will result in removal from the event.
Please recall that the Mock Prison Riot is not open to the general public or the media. You must have an active law enforcement, corrections, or public safety affiliation to attend. You will be required to present your agency ID and your driver’s license/state or federal ID upon arrival at registration. No one under 18 is permitted.
The Mock Prison Riot’s partner entities, the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Worldwide Corrections Training Foundation, recognize the importance of taking preventive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Dates for 2022: 1-4 May ... Please note, we anticipate a full-scale, normal event for 2022.
